Abstract:
Bangladesh police started working from 16th December of 1971 and it is regulated by the 150 years old Police Act 1861 and does not focus the professional aspects of crime control, responsibility and accountability of police. At present, the police force of Bangladesh is involved in various kinds of offences and they have partially failed to maintain law and order situation of the country. The present thesis concerns about the delinquency of Bangladesh Police, their miserable life style and problems which this agency is facing in practical sector. Special attention has been drawn to the recent initiatives for solving the problems of Bangladesh Police. Finally, I have tried to give some suggestions for the reformation of the existing public-frightening Bangladesh Police and making it more effective for gaining back public’s trust and confidence.
