A STUDY ON PASSENGERS FACILITIES AT SELECTED BUS TERMINALS IN DHAKA CITY

Abstract

The study was conducted in the Department of civil Engineering at Stamford University Bangladesh with the objective to prepare a thesis with a view to partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in civil Engineering. The thesis proposes “A study on existing passenger facilities on selected bus terminal in Dhaka City”. The selected bus terminal is Mahakhali bus terminal and Gabotali bus terminal. Firstly, we discussed Introduction of the bus terminal where Introduction covers the background of bus terminal. Goals of this project are discussed in the introduction chapter and select two terminals and discuss the purposes of Bangladesh bus terminal facilities. Secondly, we have discussed Bangladesh bus terminal condition and bus terminal passenger facility. Thirdly, we went to two bus terminal and asked some question about bus terminal and we have created several different data from people and we have analyzed data. We have compared among the bus terminals. There is a large number of population lived in Dhaka city. Dhaka city is very small and shortage of space. Proper planning of transport is a big problem. Moreover, there is no proper passenger facility in the terminal. In this project and thesis, we went to two terminals and find some terminal passenger facility where we find terminal conditions are not good. The scheduled bus is not available, the water is not available, the toilets and restaurant are poor quality. There are many reasons for two terminals which were discussed in the data analyze chapter. So, Government should take necessary steps to develop these two terminals. For further developing.
